Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Orthopaedic Technologist to join our dynamic team at North York General Hospital (NYGH). This is a part-time unscheduled position, working 8 hours a day in the Ortho-Plastic Clinic, Ambulatory Care. As an Orthopaedic Technologist, you will play a vital role in the care of orthopaedic patients and work under the direction of a physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and/or assist with Orthopaedic & Plastics Centre activities, including applying trimming, bivalving, windowing and removing casts, applying and removing bandages and splints, and assisting physicians with traction and casts in the Operating Room, on units and in the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of all equipment and supplies used in the Orthopaedic & Plastics Centre, ensuring that equipment and supplies are in safe working order and report need for repair and replacement.
  • Record pertinent information on appropriate grounds and explain to patients and family the care and follow-up of orthopaedic appliances.
  • Participate in the explanation to staff, nursing students, and students of other disciplines of application and care of orthopaedic appliances.
  • Assist in the transport of patients as required and maintain procedural competence by attending in-service and physicians' rounds.
Qualifications
  • Orthopaedic Technologist Diploma/Certificate
  • Member of Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT)
  • Current BCLS
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is $62,000-$82,000, based on experience and qualifications. This is a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay, and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
