Job Summary

As an Orthopaedic Technologist at North York General Hospital, you will play a critical role in the care of orthopaedic patients. You will perform and/or assist with activities in the Orthopaedic & Plastic Clinic under the direction of a physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform work assignments under the direction of a physician and within the limits of Hospital and nursing policies
  • Apply trimming, bivalving, windowing and removing casts; apply and remove bandages and splints; assist physicians with traction and casts in the Operating Room, on units and in the Emergency Department
  • Maintain an adequate supply of all equipment and supplies used in the Orthopaedic & Plastic Centre
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are in safe working order, and reports need for repair and replacement
  • Record pertinent information on appropriate grounds
  • Explain to patients and family the care and follow-up of orthopaedic appliances
  • Participate in the explanation to staff, nursing students, and students of other disciplines of application and care of orthopaedic appliances
  • Assist in the transport of patients as required
Qualifications
  • Orthopaedic Technologist Diploma/Certificate
  • Member of Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT)
  • Current BCLS
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset
What We Offer

We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan. This is a Part Time Unscheduled position with 8 hours day shifts, including on an as needed basis in Ortho-Plastic Clinic, Ambulatory Care. The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year.
