Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Specialist is a critical member of the Seaspan team, responsible for ensuring that all shipbuilding projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing quality plans, conducting inspections and audits, and providing technical support to ensure that all shipbuilding projects are completed to the required standard.

About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position with excellent opportunities for professional growth and development. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the quality team to ensure that all aspects of the shipbuilding process are controlled and monitored.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement quality plans for all shipbuilding projects, including inspection and test plans, quality control procedures, and document control systems.
  2. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  3. Provide technical support to project teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve overall quality performance.
  4. Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement improvements to quality processes and procedures.
  5. Manage and maintain quality records, including inspection reports, test results, and corrective action records.
  6. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of quality personnel.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality-related activities, including inspection schedules, testing protocols, and certification requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, science, or technology.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a quality assurance role, preferably in the shipbuilding industry.
  • Valid Red Seal Trades Certificates required as applicable.
  • Prior QC/QA experience is desirable.
  • Formal quality assurance certifications desirable.
  • Understanding of fabrication, installation, commissioning, and testing of trade-specific systems.
  • Working knowledge of quality control and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to develop Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Technical skills, including an understanding of quality techniques and their application to shipbuilding.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
