Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Mortgage Portfolio Manager to join our team at Equitable Bank. As a key member of our Commercial Finance Group, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial mortgages, providing exceptional customer service, and making sound underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide superior customer service to assigned relationships, negotiating renewals, refinances, and other transactions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review and analyze sub-advance requests, ensuring projects remain on schedule and on budget, and identifying and mitigating risks associated with individual transactions.
  • Ensure credit risk associated with the portfolio is controlled and within approved guidelines, assessing credit documentation and making recommendations in compliance with established policies and underwriting procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with internal contacts to ensure transactions and ad-hoc requests meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Prepare specific reports on assigned categories for senior management, providing insights and recommendations to inform business decisions.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in business or finance.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
  • Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum 2-4 years' commercial mortgage experience.
  • Working knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and Corporate/Legal documentation for commercial real estate in multiple jurisdictions across Canada.
  • Sound technical knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, financial statement analysis, and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
