About the Role

The Commercial Mortgage Underwriter, CMHC Portfolio Management role at Equitable Bank is a key position that requires a high level of expertise in commercial mortgage underwriting and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service to partners and build strong relationships.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of renewals, assumptions, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Assess credit risk and ensure it is within approved guidelines, with thorough documentation and recommendations submitted in compliance with established policies and underwriting procedures.
  • Manage deal flow efficiently to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Prepare and manage various reports, such as Maturity Reporting, for the department and Company.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in business or finance.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
  • Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum 2-4 years' commercial mortgage experience.
  • Sound technical knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, financial statement analysis, and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
