Job Title: Associate, ESG Investing

Canada Post is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate, ESG Investing to join our team. As a key member of our ESG Investing team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our Responsible Investment (RI) strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate potential public markets investments and identify key areas of risks and opportunities on specific ESG factors.
  • Support the analysis of funds, companies, and transactions, as well as public markets engagement activities, including proxy voting.
  • Develop relationships with potential target fund managers and key intermediaries, and attend meetings to evaluate and assess responses to questions on track record, strategy, and lessons learned.
  • Assist portfolio managers in the development and maintenance of tools to ensure that ESG considerations are adequately integrated in the investment and monitoring activities of our public market investments.
  • Build and maintain internal databases, systems, and models, as well as streamline operational processes.
  • Prepare ESG reports for each investment in the portfolio, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness of ESG analysis across portfolios.
  • Support the completion of the ESG Due Diligence Template for new investment opportunities alongside other team members.
  • Attend and contribute to Pension Investment team and ESG Working Group meetings, discussing ESG industry updates and providing helpful ESG insights across asset classes.
  • Handle daily administrative issues related to our RI strategy, and prepare portfolio company reviews and other internal reports.
Requirements:
  • Completion of post-secondary degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • General understanding of asset management and financial markets.
  • Demonstrated interest in ESG investing.
  • Prior experience conducting ESG analysis at a pension fund or asset manager is highly desirable.
  • Proficient computer skills and strong competency with Microsoft Office programs, and experience with Python and/or Excel macros.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

English is the primary language of communication in this role.
