We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter I or II to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation.

About the Role:

  • Participate in broker visits, industry functions, and marketing events to support relationship development with brokers.
  • Utilize negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
  • Make recommendations to improve department processes and increase efficiency.
  • Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships while underwriting and rating policies.
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members.
  • Evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of underwriting experience.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset.
  • Maintain expert and current knowledge of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle complex risks.
  • Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues.
  • Strong negotiating skills and business acumen.
  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
  • No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
