Skilled Labourer

Semi-skilled labourers at True North Labour Inc. are experienced professionals who have honed their skills in the industry. They possess intermediate abilities such as operating a jackhammer, vacuuming, and pressure washing, among others. Additionally, they are trained in fall protection, can identify scaffolding types, and are proficient in using ladders safely. They also undergo fit-testing and are equipped with their own half-face mask.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Excavation
  • Operating a wheelbarrow and dollies
  • Manual handling of materials
  • Spotting equipment
  • Jackhammering
  • Dewatering
  • Vacuuming (bag changes, filter maintenance, creating a dustless environment)
  • Pressure washing
  • Operating leaf blowers (gas and electric)
  • Awareness of steel stud framing, wood framing, and ability to assist in cutting
  • Awareness of drywall procedures
  • Assisting with insulation
  • Preparing for painting
  • Waterproofing
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools and some power tools
  • Measuring with a tape measure and snapping lines using a chalk line
  • Demolition assistance

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of hand tools
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ownership (hard hat, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots); other PPE (glasses, half-face or full-face mask, gloves) is preferred
  • Physical fitness (able to lift and move 50 lbs over 100 meters)
  • Safety consciousness
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada
