Job Title: Principal Consultant - Business Consulting - Mining

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Consultant to join our Business Consulting team in the Mining industry. As a Principal Consultant, you will be responsible for leading complex consulting projects and developing strategic solutions for our clients in the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead consulting projects and develop strategic solutions for clients in the mining industry.
  2. Conduct process analysis, redesign, and implementation of Lean principles to improve mining and manufacturing processes.
  3. Develop and execute business development strategies to grow our consulting practice in the mining industry.
  4. Manage and execute business consulting projects with different levels of complexity and specific workstreams within larger projects.
  5. Leverage digital technologies to craft solutions and build analytical models for deployment, production, and operations of mining and manufacturing projects.
  6. Develop and implement metrics to ensure fulfillment of client objectives and expectations.
  7. Communicate process improvement strategy within client organizations and engage leadership in defining the business case.
  8. Lead client discussions regarding the design and implementation of digital solutions.
  9. Participate in industry events and help in brand building.
  10. Work across multiple levels and multicultural teams.
  11. Maintain highly effective communication with client senior management.
  12. Respond to RFX from clients and prospects and manage the sales process.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required.
  2. At least 10 years of industry work experience with 5 years of experience in comparable consulting services.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in conducting mining operations or planning or mining project development.
  4. OR
  5. At least 5 years of experience in crafting and building digital solutions for mining operations, automation, digital twin, or manufacturing practices.
  6. OR
  7. At least 3 years of experience in Metals, Mining, or Manufacturing value chain (exploration, appraisal, development, monitoring, and commercialization), including the implications of the energy transition.
  8. Two to seven years of experience in leading engagements in mining, energy, or natural resources focused consulting role or a strategic project management/advisor role within the Metals, Mining, Natural Resources, or Manufacturing industry.
  9. Familiarity with energy markets and underlying fundamentals, regulations, and policies; specific experience and/or knowledge of specific segments of the mining, metal, or manufacturing industry preferred.
  10. Understanding of conventional shaft mining used for Potash mining or other mining methods, including open-pit, underground, and surface mining.
  11. Ability to travel 4 days a week to multiple local, state, and national client locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Potash or Muriate of Potash (MOP) mining in the North American region.
  2. Experience in mine planning and scheduling, including the use of software tools such as MineSight, Surpac, or Vulcan.
  3. Experience as an end user or programmer of production monitoring and control systems, such as SCADA, DCS, and MES.
  4. Understanding of mining automation technologies, such as autonomous haulage systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
  5. Experience in mine closure and reclamation planning and execution.
  6. Knowledge of the mining supply chain, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
  7. Familiarity with mining finance and accounting practices, including cost estimation, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  8. Awareness and understanding of mining operations and methods in various regions around the globe.
  9. Ability to interact at all levels of clients' organizations.
  10. Proven track record in program/project management.
  11. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with clients.
