Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Court Operations Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our court operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating the scheduling of hearings, managing court files, and ensuring the efficient use of judicial and court time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain a structured scheduling system to ensure an equitable distribution of court time and resources.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of hearings, including civil, family, and criminal matters, in accordance with various legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze the scheduling system to ensure court time is utilized as efficiently as possible, identifying issues and backlogs, and taking appropriate action in consultation with Court Management and the Judiciary.
  • Maintain required statistics and reports, including scheduling and statistical returns relating to all facets of court operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including the Judiciary, Court Administration, Crown Counsel, members of the Bar, and other Government Agencies, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Perform various legal functions, including striking matters for lack of conformity to the Alberta Rules of Court, and other delegated authorities.

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in a related field, plus five years of progressively responsible related experience, or equivalent.
  • Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
  • Assets include knowledge of the Court of King's Bench processes, familiarity with Court of King's Bench operations, and ability to problem solve and collaborate in a complex environment.
