The RoleWe are seeking a patient-focused Lab Technician with medical administration experience and excellent written and telephone communication skills to join our team. As a Lab Technician/Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting physician practices and facilitating patient intake through timely, high-quality, and efficient administrative care.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Intake
- Coordination of daily clinic operations
- Management of Physician orders
- Utilize Tableau daily to facilitate KPI attainment
- Meet and achieve established KPI's
- Tasks Management including Chart Checks and Report Uploads
- Perform ECG, Holter, and Blood Pressure Monitor Hook up as-needed
- Respond to patient enquiries on a timely basis
- Missed appointment follow up
- Inform and educate patients about tests and procedures as requested by physician
- Process prescription renewal requests as directed by physician in collaboration with administrative staff within recommended timelines
- Optimize clinic capacity
- Foster a collegial, respectful clinic environment
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure best patient experience and outcomes
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
- Lab Technician (certified)
- Medical administration experience
- Clinic experience is an asset
- Proven ability to work proficiently in a busy fast-paced specialist clinic environment
- Self-directed, detail-oriented with an ability to multitask, establish priorities, and achieve objectives with minimal supervision
- BLS
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Superior telephone etiquette
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in technology including MS Office and EMR systems experience
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Possesses effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to deal with sensitive information with a high degree of diplomacy
- Team orientation
- The ability to provide coverage at both Markham and Scarborough
- Cantonese Mandarin, Farsi, or Arabic language skills are an asset

This is a full-time role scheduled for 5 days and 37.5 hours per week (between Monday-Saturday) during the hours of 8.00 a.m.-4.00 p.m. or 9.00 a.m.-5.00/5.30 p.m. This position reports to the Team Lead: Patient Care Coordinators.
