Job Summary

The Polysomnographic Technologist is a key member of our sleep laboratory team, responsible for conducting polysomnograms to diagnose and treat sleep/arousal disorders. This role requires a strong understanding of polysomnographic theory and practice, as well as excellent communication and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct polysomnograms to diagnose and treat sleep/arousal disorders
  • Prepare patients for studies by receiving and interviewing patients, explaining procedures, and connecting them to monitoring devices
  • Conduct various tests involving non-invasive techniques, such as electroencephalography, electrooculography, and electromyography
  • Monitor patients during procedures and record measurements
  • Formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff
  • Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment to ensure safe and effective functioning
  • Participate in quality control programs and contribute to the development of procedures and operating standards
Requirements
  • Diploma in Respiratory Therapy or Electroneurophysiology Technology from an accredited institution
  • One year's recent, related experience in sleep study work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Eligible for registration with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
