Job Summary

The Polysomnographic Technologist is a key member of our sleep laboratory team, responsible for conducting polysomnograms to diagnose and treat sleep/arousal disorders. This role requires a strong understanding of evidence-based polysomnographic theory and practice, as well as excellent communication and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct polysomnographic studies, including electroencephalography, electrooculography, electromyography, and electrocardiography
  • Prepare patients for studies, including receiving requisitions and explaining procedures
  • Monitor patients during procedures, including responding to emergencies
  • Formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff
  • Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment, including calibrating and cleaning equipment
  • Participate in quality control programs and contribute to the development of procedures and operating standards
Requirements
  • Diploma in Respiratory Therapy or Electroneurophysiology Technology from an accredited institution
  • One year's recent, related experience in sleep study work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Eligible for registration with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks
