Job Summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting polysomnograms to diagnose and treat sleep/arousal disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct polysomnographic studies to diagnose and treat sleep/arousal disorders
  • Prepare patients for studies by receiving and interviewing them, explaining procedures, and connecting them to monitoring devices
  • Operate a variety of monitoring devices required for sleep studies, calibrate and adjust equipment during test processes, and take measurements from test data
  • Keep close surveillance on patients during studies for crisis intervention and ensure the data generated is processed to provide computerized written and graphic reports
  • Formulate preliminary polysomnographic study reports to facilitate the identification of dysfunction in sleep/wake cycles, the diagnosis of breathing disorders during sleep, and the evaluation of treatment of these disorders
  • Maintain, monitor, and test the integrity of laboratory equipment in accordance with recommended manufacturer's guidelines
  • Participate in quality control programs, identify and trouble-shoot problems, and independently resolve technical difficulties to ensure quality service standards
  • Maintain a variety of records, including patient files, and guide clinical experience of assigned new staff and students
Requirements
  • Diploma in Respiratory Therapy or Electroneurophysiology Technology from an accredited institution
  • One (1) year's recent, related experience in sleep study work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Eligible for registration with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
