Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing commercial lending deals, ensuring that they meet our organization's risk management and regulatory requirements. This is a key role in our Commercial Lending team, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our Commercial Account Managers and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver loan products and services to our members, collecting and preparing documentation for credit applications and conducting initial financial analysis to determine appropriate debt terms.
  • Review and prepare documentation for loan agreements and commitment letters, as required for progress draws.
  • Conduct annual credit reviews and prepare administrative reports and market research.
  • Prepare and follow up with member correspondence and inquiries.
  • Ensure lending and collection compliance, assisting with lending audit reviews and follow-up actions.
  • Fulfill credit monitoring and compliance requirements, including analysis of reports and financial statements.
  • Support pre-funding due diligence and security documentation completion and follow-up.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for retail and commercial sales and referrals.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in finance, commerce, or business administration.
  • Years of experience in the financial industry, including lending and/or loans administration.
  • Commercial banking and lending experience is preferred; experience with Real Estate/Land/Construction loans is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting/financial analysis and credit principles.
  • Proactive nature with the ability to identify business development opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, and sound judgment abilities.
