Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients, promoting person-centered and recovery-oriented care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, identifying actual or potential problems and strengths through nursing diagnosis.
- Provide clinical leadership in evidence-based practices, including nursing assessments, crisis intervention, patient and family education, and health promotion activities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and the interprofessional care team, promoting cooperation and collaboration.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research, identifying patient care issues and collecting data to inform practice.
- Act as an advocate for patients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychopharmacology, counselling, and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
