Job Title: Senior Accountant

At Fred Douglas Society, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and provide internal reporting, forecasts, and variance analyses on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of all year-end financial statements and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end working papers for audits and assist auditors as required.
Accounting Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and enter required monthly standard journal entries into our Dynamics system.
  • Prepare and enter other adjusting or correcting journal entries required for month-end.
  • Prepare all monthly reconciliations.
  • Enter monthly statistics into our Dynamics system.
  • Review monthly and annual MIS file, correcting any errors and send file to Manitoba Health.
Other Related Responsibilities:
  • Provide backup coverage for Financial Analyst and Accounting Clerk duties.
  • Provide backup coverage for Payroll and Benefits Clerk duties.
  • Attend department and general staff meetings, in-services, and seminars as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and related financial experience.
  • CPA designation or currently enrolled in the program preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience performing financial processing, including managing accounts payable, receivables, and invoicing.
  • Experience in the preparation or drafting of financial statements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working in a computerized environment and with integrated financial and management information systems and payroll software.
Working Conditions:

The conditions of work may involve prolonged sitting with extended periods of time using a desktop computer. The conditions may also include unpredictable resident behavior as an occasional hazard.
