Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Women's Health Care Specialist to join our team at E4C. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women.

About the Role

This role is responsible for providing primary care services to women in a clinic and mobile setting throughout the shelter. As a Women's Health Care Specialist, you will be part of a collaborative team that utilizes a holistic approach to support women in their journey to a better tomorrow.

ResponsibilitiesAssessment and Care Planning
  • You will collect, document, and report health information from objective and subjective sources to identify women's health needs, in accordance with legal, ethical, organizational, and professional requirements.
  • Using critical inquiry, you will assess, plan, and evaluate the implications of interventions that impact women's outcomes.
  • You will utilize relevant and credible resources to inform evidence-based practice in care planning and intervention, including holistic engagement with women, informed consent, women's needs, values, and preferences, collaborative partnerships, empowering communications, health advocacy, access, and autonomy.
  • You will have the ability to identify the relationship between person-centered care and health outcomes, including anxiety reduction, satisfaction with health outcomes, engagement, empowerment, rights, needs, goals, and preferences, self-management, and self-efficacy.
Practical Skills and Interventions
  • You will perform clinical/mobile procedures as dictated by the Nurse Practitioner or outside physician, which may include stable wound/dressing management, medication and immunization injections, vital signs, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, ear syringing, administering PAP tests, and Spirometry.
Clinic Operations
  • You will be able to cover and assist other clinic staff with duties and procedures within your scope of practice.
  • You will prepare examination rooms, select, set up, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.
  • You will schedule and coordinate patient referrals for lab tests and diagnostic imaging.
  • You will coordinate access to healthcare services and other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, pharmacy, homecare, social services, specialty clinics, allied health, using internal services as well as community resources as needed.
  • You will perform screening duties following Alberta Screening and Prevention parameters.
  • You will calibrate and check medical equipment, such as Blood Pressure machines, AED, glucometer, emergency basket, etc.
QualificationsEducation and Certifications
  • You must be a graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse program accredited through CLPNA.
  • You must have a Police Intervention Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • You must have a Child Intervention Record Check.
License/Certifications
  • You must have CPR C for Healthcare Provider.
  • You must have Immunization Certification.
  • You must have Medication Certification.
  • Women's Health Certification is preferred.
Professional/Technical Designation
  • You must be responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with CLPNA.
  • Your scope of practice must be defined by the college.
Asset Certificate-Based Training
  • You must have Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
  • You must have Suicide Intervention.
  • You must have Trauma-Informed.
  • You must have Harm Reduction.
ExperienceThe Ideal Candidate
  • You must have a minimum of one year of primary care nursing experience.
  • You must have experience developing and delivering care plans.
  • You must have experience working with marginalized populations.
