Job Title: Weld Reliability Specialist
Job Summary:
The Weld Reliability Specialist is responsible for inspecting and testing all welding details to ensure compliance with the control plan. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality, operational procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate generating reports/data on push out/torque/resistance weld destructive testing equipment.
- Perform mig weld cuts/measuring of weld cross sections and understand the results.
- Timely report non-conforming parts.
- Understand and complete weld inspection reports. Use weld database and check WCR for containment.
- Initiate corrective action and/or containment with Quality Auditors for non-compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Perform weld inspections for studies, tip studies, and consumable trials under weld engineer direction.
- Understand PPAP.
- Understand and complete correlation studies between destructive and non-destructive testing.
- Sound technical understanding of weld quality standards, including weld appearance and weld location - Mig, projection, spot.
- Use ultrasonic weld inspection tester.
- Perform annual layout inspections and reporting.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience inspecting/testing all welding of details.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Ability to understand/follow direction.
- Perform plasma cutting and use a push-out machine, perform microscope inspections, use air-driven chisel hammer, and read and follow weld drawings.
- Use the Jaws of Life. (Hydraulic safety training required), the cut-off saw, grinder, and polisher, to read & follow control plans.
- Work independently.
