Powell Canada Inc. is seeking a skilled Second Year Apprentice Welder to join our Fabrication team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in welding processes and tools, with a focus on precision parts fabrication. As a Second Year Apprentice Welder, you will work closely with our experienced team to produce high-quality products that meet the dimensional specifications of our mechanical engineered drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate precision parts using a variety of welding processes and tools.
  • Work with small hand tools, clamps, and grinders to fit-up and weld structural steel or sheet metal products.
  • Meet dimensional specifications and cosmetic requirements for each product.
  • Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, and shape or straighten sheet metal.
  • Perform light maintenance on welding and cutting equipment, as well as small power tools and fume extractors.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to Powell's Quality System.

Requirements:

  • Minimum education level of a High School diploma.
  • Completion of 2nd year in a Welding program.
  • Registered Apprentice with AIT (or other provincial programs).
  • CWB Certification is considered an asset.
  • Structural steel fabrication experience is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Occasional outside activities.
  • Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling.
  • Continuous standing, walking, and lifting up to 20lbs.
