Cost Planning Leader

We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join our Vancouver Development Advisory Team as a Director, Cost Planning. In this role, you will oversee the work of a team of consultants, delivering cost consulting services efficiently and driving projects to completion.
About the JobThis is a unique opportunity to guide a team of professionals in providing high-quality cost planning services to clients across various asset types and accounts. As a Senior Consultant, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting quantity surveying and cost planning activities on construction projects in British Columbia and occasionally supporting projects in other Canadian and US regions.
- Reviewing and interpreting design documents to measure and quantify building elements, applying appropriate pricing, preparing Class D to Class A estimates (conceptual to detailed estimate stages), tender reviews, and change order reviews within deadlines.
- Utilizing benchmarking data to analyze project estimates, including unit rates and costs for assets, facilities, and structures.
- Conducting technical reviews and quality assurance of reports provided by others to ensure billable quality before client delivery.
- Overseeing collection, analysis, and interpretation of cost and schedule data.
- Leading, coaching, and mentoring team members, managing training and development needs for workforce competency, and ensuring the team understands and follows Altus policy.
- Managing client communications for projects as principal contact.
- Managing new customer acquisition and long-term client relationships to increase income through repeat business and referrals.
- Preparing fee proposals for client requests and RFPs, utilizing current market knowledge for Cost Planning services.
- Post-Secondary Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Sciences, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or similar subjects.
- CIQS Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), Construction Estimator Certified (CEC), or RICS Member (MRICS).
- 7+ years of expertise in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Construction, or Project Management, and 5+ years of leadership experience in Construction Consulting. Possess a comprehensive understanding of the cost management consulting and advisory industry.
- Expertise in local/provincial construction, including commercial, institutional, multi-family residential, and public sector projects, as well as owners, contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, and measurement methods.
- Proficient with MS Office, CostX, and other computer-based measurement and estimating software.
- Strong communication abilities, including report writing and presentation.
As a Senior Consultant at Altus Group, you can expect a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $160,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will have access to:
