About the Role

GAT Airline Ground Support is seeking a skilled Aviation Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our Ground Service Equipment team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of aircraft ground support equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Troubleshooting and Diagnostic Repairs: Diagnose and repair issues with ground support equipment, including vehicles and other machinery.
  • Safety Management System (SMS) Participation: Actively participate in our Safety Management System to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Equipment Installation and Maintenance: Install new and added-on equipment, and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment is available, reliable, and safe to operate.
  • Parts Management and Reporting: Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues.
  • Work Order and Time Card Completion: Accurately complete work orders and time cards.
  • Maintenance Reporting and Documentation: Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Professional Development: Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
  • Occupational Health and Safety: Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance: Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Quality Control and Inspection: Participate in training to comprehend, implement, and maintain all quality objectives as stated in our Quality Management System to ensure delivery of desired levels of operational safety and security.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Completion of college/vocational or technical training, and Red Seal Certification (3IOS or 3IOT) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in the trade, with experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift/push/pull up to 23 kgs/50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Security Clearances: Ability to obtain necessary airport and/or Transport Canada security clearances.
Assets
  • Advanced Fuel Injection and Diesel Engine Tune-Up Certificates/Licenses: Possession of advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tune-up certificates/licenses.
  • Knowledge of Complex Systems: Knowledge or experience with furnaces/pumps/hydraulics/electronics, air conditioning and refrigeration, propane fuel systems, and drive-trains, diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to read and understand various schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting and be proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.
