Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide specialized hospital and community-based services for adults with mental illness who are in conflict with the law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients in accordance with their care plans, including performing protocols and interventions, implementing behavior management strategies, and administering prescribed medication.
  • Recognize and identify signs and symptoms of patient conditions, reporting and recording as indicated.
  • Collect and document patient healthcare information, maintaining complete and accurate records of nursing observations, interventions, and evaluations.
  • Plan direct care and contribute to the physical and psychological well-being of patients, assessing clinical requirements, developing care plans, and implementing and evaluating care plans.
  • Consult with nurses, interdisciplinary team members, and other healthcare professionals to access available resources and ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives.
  • Graduation from a recognized diploma program in Psychiatric Nursing or Nursing.
  • One year of recent experience working in a forensic or acute psychiatric hospital setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level 1.
