Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Third Engineer to join our team aboard our ships. The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all machinery, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of all vessel machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains Engine Room Watchkeeping duties and reports any incidents or damage affecting seaworthiness, speed, or normal operations.
  • Performs troubleshooting, problem-solving, and preventative and corrective maintenance to prevent downtime and ensure efficient vessel operation.
  • Monitors bunkers, lubricants, and maintains spare parts and inventory.
  • Ensures machinery compliance with regulatory and class requirements.
  • Reviews and signs off the Engine Room Logbook, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Maintains and updates the Plan Maintenance System in accordance with company policies.
  • Understands pollution regulations and the company's objectives regarding environmental protection.
Requirements
  • Fourth-Class Motor Engineer Certificate issued by Transport Canada.
  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED's) STCW Basic Safety and Survival Craft Certifications.
  • Transport Canada Marine Medical.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (ISO & ISM).
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite is an asset.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and pride in overall machinery condition.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-starter, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Previous ship experience required.
