Role Summary

The Registered Nurse is tasked with delivering expert nursing care to patients, including the administration of specialty pharmaceuticals via intravenous or injection methods. This role emphasizes the importance of patient health by conducting thorough health assessments prior to treatment, reviewing medical histories, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide optimal care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments to determine patient eligibility for medical therapies.
  • Administer intravenous access and manage central line insertions using sterile techniques.
  • Review patient medical records to gain insights into their health history.
  • Prepare and handle biologic or oncology medications in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Adhere to provincial nursing standards and medication administration protocols.
  • Educate patients about their conditions and treatment plans, promoting independence and understanding.
  • Document all patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and mentorship of new nursing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards to maintain a secure environment for patients.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Registered Nurse designation with the College of Nurses of British Columbia, in good standing.
  • Infusion certification or equivalent experience is essential.
  • Current CPR certification; ACLS certification is advantageous.
  • Ability to adapt to various clinical settings as required.
