About the Role

Mace is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Director to join our team in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). As a key member of our consult business, you will lead the delivery of high-profile rail infrastructure projects, driving a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a construction management division within Metrolinx, overseeing over 50 live rail projects across the GTA.
  • Drive a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing excellence, and lead transformation of best-practice construction delivery.
  • Proactively engage with delivery directors and vice presidents to review work plans and develop resolutions that benefit the program.
  • Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment, understanding the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.
  • Lead the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
  • Be the relationship owner and primary contact for Mace executive team engagement, ensuring efficient governance to achieve strategic priorities.
  • Responsible for key client relationship management, including generating live prospects and leads.
  • Provide strategic leadership and technical construction leadership across a multi-billion-dollar rail portfolio.
  • Further develop the design and operating model of the construction management office to enable it to effectively oversee construction activities.
  • Ensure that the construction-aspects of the program are technically sound, evidence-based, and consistent with client and stakeholders' priorities, requirements, and expectations.
  • Provide oversight of all activities, outputs, and outcomes related to construction management and administration.
  • Provide a broad range of high-quality and reliable construction expertise in a proactive manner, through advice, direction, and direct leadership with the project teams on the management of issues and considerations that are likely to influence definition and achievement of the program scope and objectives.
  • Organize, direct, and manage field representation at all major work sites and remote production facilities.
  • Identify opportunities to help develop the project delivery team's delivery experience, through coaching and mentoring of the on-site teams.
  • Help develop the constructors & PDT's approach to proactive health and safety.
  • Manage the creation of a secure online daily field logs, including photo documentation addressing daily progress, significant events, and milestones, safety.
  • Support the development of mitigation and/or incentives to reduce risks associated with the utility and construction interfaces.
  • Support and develop the safety culture of the team, ensuring core values are met.
