Conservation Specialist Opportunity

The Manitoba Metis Federation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Conservation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Energy, Infrastructure and Resource Management Department, you will play a vital role in assisting with the preparation and implementation of conservation projects throughout Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with environmental field work, data collection, and analysis
  • Collaborate with MMF staff and engage with Red River Métis Citizens
  • Support environment-focused summer day camps and other duties as assigned
  • Travel to field work sites and events as required
  • Manage scheduling, logistics, and events
  • Contribute to daily work logs, safety records, and seasonal reporting
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary schooling in a related field
  • Land-based education considered an asset
  • Wilderness First Aid, First Aid, and CPR training is an asset
  • Experience working in open, outdoor environments, in adverse weather conditions
  • Understanding of conservation and environmental work, including general knowledge of Manitoba ecosystems
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs, and services is a definite asset
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
