Job Summary

The Manitoba Metis Federation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Energy, Infrastructure and Resource Management Department, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and implementation of conservation projects throughout Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the management and coordination of environmental field work, data collection, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with MMF staff to develop and implement conservation projects.
  • Engage with Red River Métis Citizens to promote environmental awareness and community involvement.
  • Support environment-focused summer day camps and other related initiatives.
  • Travel to field work sites and events as required.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary schooling in a related field, such as environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field.
  • Land-based education or experience working in open, outdoor environments is considered an asset.
  • Wilderness First Aid, First Aid, and CPR training is an asset.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs, and services is a definite asset.
