Join Our Team as a Collections Strategy Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Librarian to lead our Collections Strategy team. As the Head of Collections Strategy, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for the acquisition, development, and management of our library collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of librarians and support staff in the acquisition, development, and management of library collections.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the acquisition and development of library collections.
  • Collaborate with other library departments to ensure seamless access to content and effective communication with the university community.
  • Manage the library's collection assessment and evaluation activities, ensuring a user-centred, systematic approach.
  • Oversee the day-to-day work of the acquisitions team, ensuring timely and accurate handling of ongoing and one-time purchases of all materials.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a library setting, with experience in human resources management and administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of licensing models, budget management, collection assessment, consortial collection strategies, and collection development practices and trends.
  • Ability to communicate on collections issues and strategies with library staff and with the university community to ensure broad engagement and dialogue.
