About the Role

Northern Lakes College is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Generalist to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of staff across various departments, ensuring the selection of qualified and capable employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of Employees: Act as the primary point of contact for staffing and recruitment inquiries, reviewing staffing requests for accuracy, and presenting to senior management for approval.
  • Job Posting and Advertising: Liaise with department hiring managers to generate job advertisements and review job descriptions for accuracy before posting.
  • Application Evaluation and Candidate Selection: Evaluate applications and resumes to confirm compatibility with screening criteria, contact candidates to coordinate interview schedules, and collaborate with hiring departments in the creation of interview questions.
  • Interview Process and Panel Chair: Participate in the interview process, performing the role of interview panel chair as required, and inform unsuccessful candidates on the status of their application.
  • Offer of Employment: Evaluate successful candidates' resumes for education and experience, consult the collective agreement and/or terms and conditions of employment for recommendation on rate of pay, and prepare offer documents for review by the manager, employee and labour relations.
  • Onboarding and Retention: Facilitate onboarding for new team members, ensuring they are equipped with necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to integrate smoothly into their roles.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Human Resource Administration or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years current progressive Human Resources related experience, preferably working within a unionized environment.
  • A combination of work experience, training, and education may be considered.
  • Registered Professional Recruiter designation would be an asset.
  • Clean Criminal Record prior to commencement.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Must be able to provide a Driver's abstract.
