Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accident Reconstruction Engineer to join our team at J.S. Held LLC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations of incidents and loss events, analyzing data, and providing expert testimony in court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct unbiased field investigations and testing of incidents and/or loss events.
  • Manage assigned engineering projects efficiently while maintaining communication with clients and project teams.
  • Preserve and document physical evidence efficiently through accurate measurements, photographs, and notes.
  • Perform testing, including brake/acceleration testing, day/night visibility testing, and slip testing, as required.
  • Download electronic data from vehicles and trucks.
  • Assess the mechanical state or condition of a vehicle or truck and diagnose mechanical failures.
  • Analyze data and conduct complex calculations.
  • Conduct computer simulations and utilize other computer software as required.
  • Provide technical findings, analysis, and conclusions in a timely fashion and in laymen's terms.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court.
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities.
  • Travel for client meetings, field work, marketing, and business development within the province and occasionally outside the province.
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge related to the engineer's practice area(s) through continuing education courses and workshops.
  • Continuously meet or exceed assigned performance metrics and goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required, with a Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in accident reconstruction and investigation.
  • Active Professional Engineering designation.
  • High-level understanding and knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems.
  • Excellent hands-on abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical reports preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attitude to deliver results.
  • Mathematically and technologically inclined with the ability to adapt to new environments or scenarios quickly.
  • Skilled with software and technical systems.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensure and certification.
  • Ability to work remotely or while traveling to different job sites.
  • Willingness and desire to work above and beyond the minimum performance and goal requirements.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications:

  • Must be able to travel to different regions primarily within the province.
  • Willing to work outdoors during harsh weather conditions to conduct vehicle/scene examinations.
