Recreation Therapist, Part Time, Adult Day Program

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Therapist to join our team at Providence Care. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centered care to our clients in the Adult Day Program.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a varied activity program for clients with dementia-related illnesses, promoting optimal physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to understand client needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with the team to plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group programs.
- Transport clients to and from activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Develop and manage volunteer and student-run programs, including recruitment, orientation, and supervision.
- Adapt programs to meet the changing needs of clients and provide necessary supplies and equipment.
- Graduate from an approved diploma or degree program in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Behaviour Sciences, or a related field.
- 2 years' experience working with older adults in long-term care settings or other healthcare settings.
- Experience working with clients with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or disabilities.
- Food handling certificate or completion prior to start date.
- CPR Basic Rescuer and first aid certification preferred.
- Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) preferred.
- Successful completion of a course on Alzheimer's disease and related dementia, or proven experience working with individuals with dementia, preferred.
- Bilingual (English and French) preferred.
