About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at Sarpino's Pizzeria Canada. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods to the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the size of food portions and costs to ensure efficient use of ingredients and minimize waste.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain a well-stocked kitchen and ensure seamless service.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods to meet the demands of our busy restaurant.
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Order supplies and equipment to maintain a well-stocked kitchen and ensure efficient service.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize waste.
  • Clean kitchen and work areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to train staff.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Initiative and ability to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Judgement and ability to make informed decisions.
  • Organized and reliable with excellent time management skills.
  • Team player with excellent client focus and dependability.
Working Conditions
  • Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent standing and walking.
  • Work under pressure to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.

English is the primary language of communication in this role.

Work Term

This is a permanent position with 40 hours of work per week.
