Athletic Communications Coordinator

Job Summary:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Communications Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a communications plan to promote the University of Toronto Varsity Blues and its athletes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, including print, broadcast, and online media.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials.
  • Coordinate with coaches, athletes, and other university staff to gather information and develop content for communications materials.
  • Manage the University of Toronto Varsity Blues social media accounts and develop content to engage with fans and promote the team.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing campaigns to promote the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
  • Provide support for events and games, including writing game notes, developing promotional materials, and coordinating with vendors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in athletic communications or a related field.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with social media and content management systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Communications or related field.
  • Experience working in a university or college setting.
  • Knowledge of University of Toronto Varsity Blues and its athletic programs.
  • Experience with graphic design and video production.
