Job Title: Technical Officer, Building Acoustics

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer, Building Acoustics to join our Construction Research Centre team at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, documenting, and testing sound transmission for full-scale building assemblies in support of our research and development objectives and contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct and test full-scale experimental test assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Document construction details and apply technical knowledge of acoustical testing techniques and instrumentation.
  • Perform acoustical tests in accordance with quality assurance procedures for each of the acoustical facilities.
  • Collaborate with other Technical Officers and outside contractors as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in a construction-related field such as carpentry or building construction technology, or other discipline related to the position.
  • Experience in proper construction practices, quality assurance procedures, and operation of forklift equipment and overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety best practices to create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
