Key Responsibilities:

The Academic Advisor Program Specialist will be responsible for developing education plans for students from diverse backgrounds by connecting their academic standing to education and career goals. This involves assessing their academic and work history, taking into account life situations, cultural context, and financial resources.

Key Functions:
  1. Develops education plans for students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  2. Provides mandatory advising for International and Probationary Students.
  3. Supports the development of processes related to application, registration, and time-tabling.
  4. Identifies at-risk students and develops action plans to support their success.
  5. Researches and applies knowledge of educational programs, services, and transfer agreements.
  6. Supports the university's recruitment, conversion, and retention activities.
  7. Develops and presents orientations and workshops.
  8. Liaises with educational institutions, professional organizations, and other TRU departments.
  9. Responds to internal requests for consultation on new programs and institutional policies.
  10. Participates on institutional committees.
