As a key member of Northern Health's leadership team, the Chief Medical Information Officer plays a pivotal role in driving medical excellence through technology enabled information management. This strategic position advances the utilization of clinical information systems to enhance quality outcomes across clinical operations and interdisciplinary healthcare teams throughout Northern BC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for physician engagement in information technology initiatives, developing strategies to maximize physician adoption of technology solutions, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Information System and key clinical leaders, this role advises on development, implementation, benefits, change management, and evaluation of informatics solutions such as electronic medical records, health information exchanges, and virtual health platforms.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Chief Medical Information Officer champions innovation and development of a clinically appropriate information culture. This involves ensuring that clinical needs are translated into technology solutions that optimize care quality and patient safety.

This exceptional opportunity offers a competitive salary range of $187,972 to $234,966, commensurate with education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions within the region.

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess:

  • Licence to practice medicine in BC
  • Eligibility for privileges and credentialing with Medical Affairs of Northern Health
  • Clinical leadership experience in the healthcare sector, including experience with electronic clinical systems

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Broad knowledge of clinical practice and multidisciplinary healthcare team roles within a patient-centered care model
  • Knowledge of patient safety/quality management, performance management, and accreditation standards
