We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Respiratory Rehabilitation Specialist in our Chronic Disease Management program.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate nurse to work with individuals living with chronic respiratory disease. As a Respiratory Rehabilitation Specialist, you will be responsible for educating patients on self-management skills using the Chronic Disease Management Model and adult education principles.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching groups and individuals, with experience in developing and implementing educational programs. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational programs for patients with chronic respiratory disease
  • Teach patients and their families about normal versus abnormal respiratory function, medication and inhaler techniques, and improve breath control
  • Conduct exercise classes to improve respiratory patients' exercise tolerance
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and revise educational resources
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
  • Three (3) years' recent related experience and demonstrated clinical competence in teaching groups of patients and allied healthcare professionals
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
