About the Role

This position is a vital part of the surgical team at Fraser Health, providing technical support and clinical assistance with anesthesia procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring patient comfort and explaining procedures to patients
  • Perform anesthetic risk assessments and determine general physical status of patients
  • Prepare, test, and maintain anesthesia equipment, identifying malfunctions and performing minor maintenance
  • Assist with induction of anesthesia, managing airways, establishing ventilation, and procuring intravenous and arterial lines
  • Monitor patients' physiological response to procedural stimulation/medication, administering prescribed pharmacological agents under the direction of the Anesthesiologist
  • Document patient data on the Anesthesia Record, charting clinical findings such as vital signs and respiratory status
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • One year of experience in an acute care hospital environment or equivalent
  • Active enrolment in the Thompson River's University (TRU) Anesthesia Assistant post-diploma program
Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience
