Role Overview

Bitfarms Ltd, a leading global vertically integrated Bitcoin mining company, is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the finance department, this role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with tax regulations and accurately reporting financial data.

About the Job

The successful candidate will have a strong background in tax preparation and compliance, with experience working with IFRS tax provision and returns for public companies. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Preparation of quarterly tax provision for all Canadian and US entities, coordination with Senior Finance Analyst Taxation for integration of LATAM tax provision, preparation of note disclosures, and co-ordination with external audit firm in quarterly review and year-end audits (25%);
  2. Preparation, review of month-end closing tasks related to income tax accounts, instalments, VAT filings, Sales & Use filings, and analysis (10%);
  3. Tax audit support, including research on issues raised by auditors and preparation of responses (10%);
  4. Documenting the Company's tax related accounting policies in accordance with IFRS and maintenance of tax accounts (10%);
  5. Preparation of year-end tax returns for all Canadian and US entities, related instalment analysis (25%);
  6. Supporting reviews of transfer pricing, property tax and employment tax issues for existing operations and business development opportunities (15%);
  7. Assist in other special projects, ad hoc reporting requirements and SOX requirements (5%).
Requirements and Qualifications
  • CPA designation;
  • 5+ years of experience involving the preparation of IFRS tax provision and returns for public companies; Big Four experience is an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS for tax reporting;
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite user (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint);
  • Bilingual (English and French), to allow effective correspondence with Tax Authorities in US & Canada;
  • Flexible and adaptable; experience working in a dynamic environment would be an asset;
  • Experience with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics / Navision, Workiva and Jet Reports would be an asset).
