Job DescriptionThis two-year graduate program offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in mine closure and environmental stewardship. You will gain hands-on experience through rotational assignments at various North American closed sites and functional departments.
You will work alongside industry professionals, developing a well-rounded skill set in closure planning, execution, and management. To support your professional growth, you will also be enrolled in the Copper Leadership Development Program, providing essential leadership and business training.
- You will gain hands-on experience at various closed sites by supporting water treatment plant operations, conducting monitoring, sampling, and inspections, and assisting in minor capital project management.
- You will participate in Glencore's Tailings Management Academy to develop expertise in responsible tailings and waste management.
- You will complete Capital Management Framework (CMF) Project Management Training to enhance project planning and execution skills.
- You will work closely with specialized mentors to gain insight into key closure disciplines, including health & safety, water geochemistry, tailings dam management, and rock mechanics.
To succeed in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Environmental, Geotechnical, Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, Civil) or in Earth and Environmental Science (e.g., Geochemistry, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Biology).
You should have a minimum of 2 internships or 1 year of experience in environmental work and/or mining projects. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, are required.
You must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
