The Closure Graduate Program is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in mine closure and environmental stewardship. Upon completion of the program, participants will have gained valuable hands-on experience and developed a strong technical foundation, positioning them for career advancement opportunities within Glencore Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  1. You will gain hands-on experience at various closed sites, supporting water treatment plant operations, conducting monitoring, sampling, and inspections, and assisting in minor capital project management.
  2. You will participate in Glencore's Tailings Management Academy to develop expertise in responsible tailings and waste management.
  3. You will complete Capital Management Framework (CMF) Project Management Training to enhance project planning and execution skills.
  4. You will work closely with specialized mentors to gain insight into key closure disciplines, including health & safety, water geochemistry, tailings dam management, and rock mechanics.
  5. You will develop a strong technical foundation in aquatic & terrestrial biology, water treatment plant operations, and ground control to support sustainable closure practices.

Requirements

  • A commitment to Glencore's core values: safety, integrity, responsibility, openness, simplicity, and entrepreneurialism.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Environmental, Geotechnical, Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, Civil) or in Earth and Environmental Science (e.g., Geochemistry, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Biology).
  • A minimum of 2 internships or 1 year of experience in environmental work and/or mining projects.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within North America, including to remote locations.
