Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Inclusion and Disability Support Specialist to join our team in Brampton. As an integral member of our Community Services department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality programs for individuals with disabilities.

Salary: $20.67 per hour

About the Role

The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service and communication skills, with experience working with individuals with disabilities or exceptionalities. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging programs that cater to diverse needs and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver safe and stimulating programs for individuals with disabilities
  • Provide exceptional front-line customer service, including greeting and engaging participants, and informing parents/guardians of daily activities and well-being
  • Support participants in fully participating in programs, assisting with daily needs, such as personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, transferring, dressing/changing, and behavior modifications
  • Utilize specialized equipment and apparatus
  • Maintain accurate daily Communication Logs for each participant and share information with parents/guardians
  • Complete pre-camp phone calls to families to introduce yourself and obtain necessary information
  • Act as a witness in administering medications according to corporate policy
  • Ensure a safe and tidy program space, setting up and storing equipment appropriately
  • Report concerns, accidents, and incidents to your immediate supervisor for follow-up and action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce corporate policies, confidentiality guidelines, emergency procedures, and health and safety standards
  • Attend meetings/training as required

Selection Criteria

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or exceptionalities
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR C certification from an accredited organization (or ability to obtain within one month)
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification (considered an asset)
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lifesaving Society Safeguard certification (or ability to obtain within one month)
