Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst to join our team at Michael Garron Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a range of services including payroll processing, financial analysis, and business analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing support in bi-weekly payroll processing for approximately 3000 employees, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
  • Assisting with ATA timesheet management.
  • Maintaining personnel files and records while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Processing new hire enrollment forms, termination documentation, and category changes in the payroll system, as well as related pension and benefits coverages in the employee's file.
  • Administering the employee's Sub-Plan, reimbursement process, and garnishment payments.
  • Responding to employee inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Identifying and responding to issues promptly, demonstrating appropriate follow-up.
  • Following up with managers and unit clerks regarding employee attendance, status changes, and payroll adjustments as needed.
  • Aiding in the monthly reconciliation of general ledger payroll liability accounts and the fiscal year-end audit, as well as investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Participating in the preparation of materials for external and internal auditors and responding to requests from auditors.
  • Coordinating year-end processes for T4, T4A, or T2200 forms, WSIB, and EHT annual returns.
  • Taking responsibility for HOOPP monthly remittance, reporting, and year-end MDC reporting.
  • Assisting with government reporting or online filings, such as CRA, Statistics Canada, Service Canada.
  • Assisting the Payroll/HR/Finance/IT team with new HRIS implementation.
  • Participating in special projects to improve efficiency and user experience with payroll processes and tools.
  • Maintaining payroll processes and documentation for best practices, compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Completion of a 4-year post-secondary qualification or equivalent education and experience.
  • National Payroll Institute, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in full payroll and pension administration.
  • Solid understanding of government payroll regulations, including provincial health tax, workers' compensation, defined benefit pension plans, and employment standards.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with multiple unions.
  • Preferred experience in HRIS implementation.
  • Preferably familiar with Workday and Oracle payroll systems.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel for data analysis and intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including documentation development and delivery.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills.
