The Central Island Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program is seeking a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide input and support for the development of several new components to the program. Key responsibilities include:

Telepsychiatry Outreach

Providing telepsychiatry services to underserved areas of Vancouver Island, expanding access to mental health care for children and adolescents.

Consultation to Pediatric Ambulatory Care Service

Collaborating with the Pediatric Ambulatory Care Service at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital to provide consultation and support for children and adolescents.

Mental Health Day Program and Early Psychosis Intervention

Developing and implementing a mental health day program for children and adolescents, as well as an early psychosis intervention program to support early identification and treatment of psychosis.

Additional duties will include consultation and liaison for admitted children and youth at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, as well as opportunities for consultation with the local Child and Youth Mental Health Team.

As a member of the Island Health team, there are opportunities for training and education of medical students and residents, and participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.

Administrative support and office space for assessments will be provided.
