Director of Optimization Research

About This Role
CAE Flight Services offers cutting-edge digital solutions to equip aviation professionals with data-driven insights. Our comprehensive portfolio includes airport resource management, crew planning, flight planning, inflight provisioning, tactical schedule planning, and disruption management.
The Director of Optimization Research will lead an international team specializing in optimization services. This role requires expertise in analytical problem-solving and decision-making, driving the development of CAE Flight Services solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering complex solutions into hosted environments.
- Collaborating with customers and internal stakeholders to understand airline operations and offer creative solutions.
- Participating in peer review of solution design, assessing opportunities for improvement, and preparing documentation for team members and stakeholders.
- Supporting marketing and sales activities to ensure the success of CAE Flight Services solutions and services.
- Providing third-level support and training courses to customers.
- Representing CAE Flight Services and the OR team in a professional manner.
- Leading technical and team leadership through coaching and mentorship.
- Maintaining high software quality standards within the team.
- Identifying areas for growth and improvement within the team.
Our ideal candidate has:
- A Master's degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Ten years of experience in optimization solutions.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience leading an international team.
- Extensive knowledge of mathematical programming models, including LP/IP, network flow, graph theory, column generation, branch and bound, and large-scale optimization.
- Strong knowledge of C++ (11+), object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
- A desire to remain technically capable and an expert in mathematical programming models.
- Experience in enterprise software development and maintenance.
- Strong initiative to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in people management and leadership.
