Position Overview

The Royal Mental Health Centre is seeking a dedicated Clinical Neuroimaging Research Specialist to join our esteemed team. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of mental health through neuroimaging methodologies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to innovative research projects aimed at enhancing mental health treatments for veterans and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee clinical neuroimaging studies while ensuring compliance with ethical research standards.
  • Engage in comprehensive neuroimaging data collection and analysis, including the development and execution of fMRI protocols.
  • Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
  • Mentor graduate students in neuroimaging techniques and data analysis.
  • Write and submit research proposals to secure funding for ongoing and future projects.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance research outcomes.
  • Conduct clinical assessments for research purposes in alignment with DSM standards.
  • Stay informed on current research trends in PTSD and related mental health issues, particularly as they pertain to Canadian veterans.
  • Act as a liaison among study participants, research teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize advanced neuroimaging equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve challenges throughout the research process.
  • Develop and maintain effective data management systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD or MD/PhD) in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical research experience in neuroscience or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong publication record and excellent academic credentials.
  • Proficiency in neuroimaging techniques, particularly fMRI and EEG.
  • Experience with programming and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • Understanding of ethical practices in human research.
  • Respect for the experiences of veterans and individuals with mental health challenges.
