Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swimming Pool Safety Professional to join our team at the Town of Hay River. As a key member of our aquatics staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and overseeing swimming programs, enforcing safe actions and behavior near and around the pool, performing rescues as required, and examining injured persons and administering first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation when necessary.

You will also be expected to maintain the facility to ensure the swimming pool is safe and clean, which includes conducting water chemistry tests, adjusting chemicals as required, and performing routine cleaning tasks.

Requirements
  • Aquatic Emergency Care (Standard First Aid & CPR C) certification;
  • National Lifeguard Certification – Pool;
  • WHMIS training, emergency procedures training;
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills;
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
  • Effective communications skills;
  • Instructor courses (Swim & Lifesaving Instructor course);
Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding role that requires lifting, carrying, and managing equipment and supplies, as well as participating in strenuous physical activities. You must be prepared to deal with injuries and accidents, handle various chemicals including chlorine, and work in a busy and noisy environment.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan.
