Job Title: Senior Lifeguard/InstructorJob Summary:

The Town of Hay River is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lifeguard/Instructor to join our team at the Don Stewart Aquatic Centre. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our patrons, teaching swimming skills, and promoting a culture of water safety and enjoyment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor swimming programs to ensure the safety of patrons
  • Teach swimming skills to clients of all ages and skill levels
  • Perform rescues as required and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation if necessary
  • Maintain the facility to ensure the swimming pool is safe and clean
  • Work with the Facilities and Parks Supervisor to ensure the safety and maintenance of the Don Stewart Aquatic Centre
Requirements:
  • Aquatic Emergency Care (Standard First Aid & CPR C) certification
  • National Lifeguard Certification – Pool
  • Swim Instructor / Examiner certification
  • WHMIS training, emergency procedures training
  • Lifesaving Instructor / Examiner certification
  • Fitness Certification / Aqua-fitness Certification would be considered an asset
Working Conditions:

The Senior Lifeguard/Instructor will work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels. The incumbent will be required to lift, carry and manage equipment and supplies, and may be required to practice lifesaving techniques. The Senior Lifeguard/Instructor will be expected to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to patrons.
