Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Clinical Nutrition Specialist to provide competent, safe and ethical professional practice to the patient/client, family, and community. The successful candidate will advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.

About the Role

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of the patient, client/community through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support and rehabilitation. The successful candidate will participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including but not limited to Preceptoring Dietetic Interns.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree with major concentration in Foods and Nutrition required
  • Dietetic Internship Program required
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience an asset
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting
  • Current WHMIS an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, Familiarity with the Meditech considered an asset information system considered an asset
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Temporary Long Assignment, Part-Time Position, 67.5 Hours Bi-Weekly
  • Approximate term of 12 months (Dates subject to change)

Compensation and Benefits

$32.95 - $43.43 Hourly
